Description
Richard Hudson MRSS' Tear was originally exhibited in 2016 by Sotheby’s at their ‘Beyond Limits’ exhibition at Chatsworth House. Inspired by nature, ‘Tear’ is a reminder of the preciousness of water and the balance it sustains in our world. The polished mirrored steel surface invites viewers to reflect on this theme.
The galleries at Dora House are closed until autumn 2026 while we carry out building works to deliver the project 'Creating a Home for Sculptors', an initiative that will re-imagine our basement into a welcoming flat for visiting artists with flexible studio space and a home for the Royal Society of Sculptors’ archive.
During this period the sculpture terrace at 108 Old Brompton Road will continue to showcase contemporary sculpture and over the summer we are delighted to have Richard Hudson MRSS' Tear whose work is also on show at The Roof Gardens as part of Sculpture Above Ground a new exhibition curated by Aurore Ankarcrona Hennessey.
Bringing together artists from the Royal Society of Sculptors, Sculpture Above Ground unfolds across two distinct London sites: the Woodland Gardens at The Roof Gardens, and the terrace at Dora House, the Royal Society of Sculptors’ historic home in South Kensington. Installed across contrasting architectural and social settings, the exhibition considers how sculpture is encountered differently in spaces of leisure, display, and contemplation. We are also programming a series of online artists in conversation events open to all so please visit our What's On page to find out more and for recordings of past talks, visit the Society's Vimeo Channel.
