About the prize

Plinth invited members of the Royal Society of Sculptors to submit limited edition works (2D or 3D) on the theme of 'Samples', where everyday objects and materials are thrown into fresh light. Samples could mean anything from the musical to the geological, the unfinished to the interdisciplinary -any surprising take on the role of fragments in our contemporary world will be considered.

The show will be a selling exhibition, part of Cromwell Place's season dedicated to limited editions which are a popular way to make art more accessible in the run up to Christmas. Selected works will also be featured on the Plinth online store. The sales commission split will be 60% artist, 20% Plinth, 20% Royal Society of Sculptors.

About Plinth

Plinth is a contemporary art platform that unites established and emerging artists on one pedestal. Whether celebrated on a local or a global stage, our mission is to bring the work of outstanding artists to wider audiences through stories, exhibitions and beautiful objects.

From Turner Prize-winners to Magnum Photographers, collaborating with artists is at the heart of what we do, and we have published limited editions, specially-designed homeware, clothing and multiples by Michael Craig-Martin, Cornelia Parker, Ding Yi, David Shrigley, Julian Opie, Beatriz Milhazes and many more.

Our magazine captures the energy and depth of London’s cultural scene, while our projects shape it – all in the firm belief that contemporary art should be accessible for curious minds the world-over, and an integral part of everyday life.
