Biography
As someone with Korean heritage and a national identity as a British citizen, I have always been an outsider in every place I have lived. As an artist and architect, my practice explores the transformation of discarded materials into sculptural works that bridge the past and present. I breathe new life into objects that have lost their value, seeing waste not as mere refuse but as a material with latent potential. Through my work, I challenge the cycle of consumption and abandonment, seeking to create resonance between material and meaning. By deconstructing and reassembling discarded objects, I employ architectural techniques such as stacking, casting, and modular construction to create sculptural forms that reference cultural relics and historical structures. My recent works integrate light and sound, expanding the sensory experience of sculpture and engaging audiences in new ways. Beyond visual forms, I actively collaborate with accomplished composers to explore sound sculpture projects, as well as with dancers and performers to create immersive, multidisciplinary experiences.
