Our Sculptors Exhibitions
What Holds Remains. Working across sculpture, installation, and performance, Colin Higginson explores our physical and emotional relationship with the landscape and the impact we have on the natural environment. Drawing on archaeology, memory, the Anthropocene, and dystopian science fiction, What Holds Remains brings together works that mimic natural forms while questioning authenticity, permanence, and preservation.
Using materials including wax, resin, clay, paper, and copper sulphate crystals, Higginson creates objects resembling stone, bone, and geological specimens. Yet these forms are often fragile and mutable: they melt, drip, crystallise, or slowly transform. Through processes of material change, the works reflect attempts to hold on to fleeting moments and preserve what inevitably shifts and disappears, evoking uncertain futures and changing environments.
