Artist’s Talk introducing a yearlong public art project ‘Above and Below- Flagships’ exploring the shape of Arctic sea-ice since the Paris Agreement 2015,

On Saturday 12th July at 14:00 at the St Katherine Docks Classic Boat Festival, Part of Totally Thames festival 2026, Artist Ros Burgin is asking 30 sailing yachts to volunteer to be part of the ‘Above and Below Flagships’ project.
Retired sailcloth is to be transformed into sets of 12 handmade flags carrying Arctic sea-ice drawings for each yacht to fly when they are in port. The ports become temporary open-air exhibitions, documented online throughout the year to create a cumulative narrative of climate change, ocean stewardship, maritime culture, resilience and international community connection.
