Our Sculptors Exhibitions
The exhibition is sited in the gardens and in the long gallery.
The 35 acres of listed historic gardens surrounds the early 13th century castle (not open to the public as it is a family home). They contain an amazing collection of rare trees and shrubs as well as a formal rose garden, herbaceous borders and an early 19th century traditional walled vegetable garden.
Upton Castle Gardens is a privately owned, historic garden. The medieval castle remains a family home. It provides a spectacular setting for terraces of herbaceous borders, a traditional rose garden, a Georgian walled garden and the more intimate chapel surroundings. The medieval chapel, featured on Time Team, contains ancient effigies and predates the castle itself. The woodland walks will lead you through stunning ancient trees, past the remains of medieval fish ponds and finally to the tidal estuary of the River Cledda
The sheltered, warm maritime climate creates a temperate rain forest which allows various plants and trees to thrive. Woodland walks lead through the dappled light of ancient trees to salt marshes. The arboretum features magnolias, camellias and rhododendrons. It also features champion trees.
