Our Sculptors Exhibitions
Messums Write: Alongside our Forest Cathedral installation in the barn, this exhibition keeps you immersed in the subtle, yet unmistakeable, marvels of the natural world. The work on display extends from the ocean bed to the forest floor and on to sky, encompassing sculpture, painting, drawing, photography, ceramics, and multi-media.
In line with our Active Environmentalism programme, the presentation is curated to prompt thoughts on how the visual languages can deepen our perception and relationship to our environment. Artists are often the conveyers of a knowledge which is comprehensible to us all, but the beauty of their endeavour is the result of acute listening and exceptional faculty in creativity to render thoughts into forms that engage and inspire the viewer. Often these thoughts are rendered beautiful or indeed lasting by their proximity to depths of understanding which prove to be sustaining over time. We have aimed to bring together those thoughts and pleasures through a diverse group of voices. Messums is proud to feature a selection of our represented artists and others who have been part of the Messums story over the past ten years.
Exhibiting artists include Laurence Edwards, Shaun Fraser, Dame Elisabeth Frink, Beatrice Hassell-McCosh, Sammy Hawker, Tyga Helme, Nicola Hicks, Makoto Kagoshima, Henry Lamb, Sonia Leber and David Chesworth, Richard Long, Bridget McCrum, Meredith Owen, Yan Wang Preston, Tuesday Riddell, Jean-Vincent Simonet, Kim Simonsson, Stephen Turner and Antony Williams.
