Textures of Place/ Texturen des Ortes
Petersburger Strasse 76A, Berlin 10249
‘Textures of Place’/Texturen des Ortes' is a two person exhibition between artists Deborah Gardner and Andrea Thoma held at the Inselgalerie, Berlin showing sculpture by Deborah Gardner and painting and video art by Andrea Thoma. Gardner’s sculptures consider the architecture of matter and societal systems. Networks, colonies and hive structures prompt considerations on the minutiae and magnitude of social, physical and biological bodies. Aspects of proximity and distance will be explored from the aerial view/perspective to the highly textured close view/perspective and surface and form will consider movement of colour and light, reflection and possible relationships between the microcosm and macrocosm.
A first version of this exhibition was shown at Strzemiński Academy of Art Łódź from 3rd to 26th April 2017. http://cepra.leeds.ac.uk/past-projects/texture-of-place
