Biography

My career as a sculptor has grown out of my early practise as a stonecarver in the restoration of historic monuments.  My work can be found on Westminster Abbey, King’s College Chapel and Ely Cathedral for example.  It involves the replication of ornamental stonework and demands an understanding of different styles and periods. Once established I was called upon to design my own work, sometimes for historic locations, sometimes for contemporary buildings.  This broadened my range from architectural ornament to figurative design and carving.  On many occasions large scale projects have involved the use of many assistants in my studio in order to achieve demanding deadlines.  Over the years the quality of my work has been consistently recognised in national competitions. In 2010 I won the Marsh Award for Traditional Building Skills, and in 2014 I was recognised as a  Livery Company Skills Council Master Craftsman.
