Biography

A starting point for Terry’s sculpture is often an internal geometric void which enters into a dialogue with a surrounding organic form bounded by an oval or circle. Dialogue is key to reading the work, the void is no violent intruder, punched into the organic space, it was there from the beginning.

The central geometrical space is often echoed by radiating lines or groves, which not only delineate the centre of the work, but articulate the structure of the surrounding form. They are like furrows in an agricultural landscape that make us aware of the undulations in the surface of the land. The experience is akin to the act of throwing a stone into water and watching the radiating rings it produces.
