Biography
My works are primarily concerned with identity, an individual’s motivations and society’s perceptions of that individual. I have exhibited in the UK and overseas and collaborated with eminent members of the scientific world to comment on topical scientific and ethical issues, ranging from genetics to conjoined twins.
In a departure from my partnerships with noted scientists, my exhibition “Body Politic” took the socio-political climate surrounding the 2010 general election as subject material celebrating the experiences of MPs who stepped down at that time.
My work combines three disciplines: ceramics, sculpture and photography. I explore expressive forms of visualisation, experimentation and interaction between materials and subject matter, taking inspiration from the physicality and psychology of the human form. My concerns are with the complexities of mind and body and how they interact. More importantly, I am searching for and attempting to categorize and present a reality beyond the scientifically measurable.
