Biography
Process
An innovative combination of stone working processes. Small scale, solo studio practice, using chisel, mallet and fine abrasive tools and collaboration with large scale, digital, stone machining specialists.
Recent research into the use of Interactive Technologies (touch sensors) will be incorporated into future works, allowing an audience to interact directly with the sculptures/installations through touch, sound and mobile devices.
Inspiration
Concepts for the work often spring from where the work will be sited, responding to local landscape, cultural history and architecture.
I have a particular interest in water, wetlands and the flora and fauna that inhabit these environments.
Vision
My material of choice is marble, (salvaged off-cuts), known for its translucent and luminous qualities. My aim is to create sculptures and installations that use the material marble to transform our experience of light as a gentle, uplifting presence in our daily lives, helping to bring a feeling of calm and contemplation to our lived spaces.
