Biography

Noa Chernichovsky’s work emerges from a deep personal connection with her surroundings, where every movement and interaction fuels her creative process. She carefully observes and intuitively explores the network of associations that form around objects and their fragments, creating hybrid ceramic volumes that challenge our perception of the everyday. Her work highlights the often-overlooked physical elements of daily life, reconstructing them into dynamic, sculptural forms.

At the core of her practice is an aesthetic grounded in urban imagery—the enduring asphalt roads and sidewalks juxtaposed with the transient, colorful impressions of city life. Chernichovsky sees herself as a "sampler" of surfaces and forms from the physical world. Her sculptures, composed of numerous elements, each with its own context and cultural significance, accumulate like a collage into a larger image with its own multifaceted identity, creating a dreamlike new environment.

In her studio, Chernichovsky innovatively combines traditional ceramic techniques, including wheel-thrown parts, hand-building, and slab molding, with non-ceramic materials and readymade objects. Although the subjects of her work are mundane, they are conveyed in an exuberant visual language, rich with intricate textures and patterns that infuse the final image with energy and vitality.
