Biography
Matt Smith has had several solo shows (Fitzwilliam Museum 2018, Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery 2011, Aspex Gallery 2010, Leeds University Art Gallery 2012), has shown internationally and regularly produces site-specific work for historic houses, including the National Trust.
His work often addresses marginalised positions and viewpoints and examines how museums, galleries and cultural organisations select the histories they discuss.
His work is included in the collections of The Walker Art Gallery, The Fitzwilliam Museum, Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and Brighton Museum. In 2018 he was award Best Object in Show at Collect by Ekow Eshun.
