Biography

I am holding two Masters in Fine Art, one from Goldsmiths College London and one from Weißensee Art School Berlin. My work has been shown internationally and I have received awards and grants for my creative contributions. Before all that I trained as a professional tailor in Munich and I still use a lot of fabric in my art.

I have specialised in creating flags, banners and wall hangings in bold colours. To me they are like flowing sculptures, moved by the wind in ever-changing ways. They often are quite subversive and come with layers of meaning.

Site specific projects that respond to architecture and history of a place are my speciality. An example of that would be a 30m long bespoke pink skirt I made for a concrete Nazi bunker on the island of Jersey, one of the Channel Islands.

Generally, I find textiles a very relatable material as our human bodies are in touch with them almost all the time. There is something deeply intimate about fabric and at the same time it has a highly representational function in clothes, national flags or uniforms.

I live with my family on the south coast of England.
