Kate Hammersley is an artist and sculptor whose practice considers what it is like to live in a world that is in a state of flux. She is currently working on art and science projects at the cutting edge of research. Recently she has been artist in residence at the University of Oxford Department of Engineering Science working alongside a researcher studying cooling systems for space craft re-entry into the earth's atmosphere supported by Arts Council England.  Working in a variety of media from drawing to film and ceramics she is an elected member of the Royal Society of Sculptors.  Since being selected to take part in Sotheby's International Young Art programme she has exhibited nationally and internationally including Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, the Royal Society of Sculptors London and the Elizabeth Foundation New York.  Collections include the University of Oxford and private collections UK and overseas.
