Biography

Julia has been intrinsically involved in the Melbourne art scene since 1995 and has recently moved to London. She has exhibited widely internationally and throughout Australia, showing at major institutions including the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney, The National Gallery of Victoria, Geelong Gallery, the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art, the Art Gallery of Western Australia, and Heide Museum of Modern Art, in artist run spaces, commercial galleries and friends’ living rooms.. Her works are held in the collections of the National Gallery of Victoria, Monash University and the Geelong Gallery, among others. In 2016, she created “The Forties’, the inaugural Inside/Out Commission for the MCA. This was followed by receiving the MCA Commission for Vivid Sydney in 2017. Recent projects include “Time, passing”, a large scale wall drawing for the exhibition, “Wall Drawings”, at Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery, as part of their Spring Festival of Drawing, and “Pattern D”, for the RACV’s Artshouse Gallery in Creswick and she currently has a new, large scale commissioned work, “Reflections on Reflection”, on display at the Shepparton Art Museum
