Biography

Jennie Speirs Grant holds numerous awards including the RBS bursary award in 1997, The Fredericke Bushe OBE sculpture award, Leverhulme AiR for The Edinburgh Climate Change Institute and an AHRC award for doctoral research in contemporary drawing and sculptural glass as a combined subject, completed in 2012 at the National Glass Centre, Sunderland.

Collaborative working and inter disciplinary projects are integral to her practice, particularly within architectural, landscape, heritage and environmental contexts and partnerships. Material process is central, with works in cast and constructed ferrous and non ferrous metal, ceramics, stone, concrete and stucco. Current work remains focused on the challenges of cast sculptural glass, across a spectrum of processes.   

Work ranges in size from public sculpture to small scale works, mostly retained by the artist but with representation in both public and private collections.
