Biography

James works in stone, metal and bronze from his studio on Hall farm in Gainsborough. He produces work to commission and exhibits throughout the country creating small personal works and Public Art.

Over the past 20 years his work has taken many directions, inspired by nature and emotions, both figurative and abstract. “I try to make my work an interpretation of simple, beautiful shapes I observe, and try to bring them to the awareness of others.”

After the birth of his daughter in 2010 he started working on a series looking at childhood toys. Enjoying the softness, shapes and curves that toys contain and the emotions they evoke.

In 2012 he began to work more extensively in metal allowing him to make larger work opening up more opportunities to create Public Art sculptures.
