Biography

While a teenager David Worthington became interested in sculpture studying it at A level. He graduated from Oxford University in 1984 with a degree in Philosophy and Theology.

He has carried out many public and private commissions and in the UK and USA. In 2001 he completed an MA in Visual Culture and in 2007 finished an MA in Computer Arts at Thames Valley University.

He sits on the Council of The Royal British Society of Sculptors and was recently elected a Fellow by his peers. In 2009 he was elected Vice President for a three-year term. In 2009 he was shortlisted for the Jerwood Sculpture Prize. In 2011 he curated a sculpture exhibition for the Glyndebournen Festival Opera season. He says - the sculptural object is a reflection of our bodies emanating from that sculptural ideal within. The audience respond to the work with their bodies. The subconscious understands sculpture before the conscious has rationalised it.
