Biography
As with many art school teachers, I have been stretched across a vast range of highly innovative and experimental work made by some remarkable students. The core of my teaching and my own practice is to use the facility of parallax vision which we do naturally when viewing objects in space but when making sculpture, the demands of form and shape are allowed to rattle within their own space and most importantly, a little bit beyond. That projection and recession is the dominant dynamic.
I believe that drawing plays an enormous part in the searching process and that making skills: construction, carving, modelling and even assemblage are often decided by the dynamics first registered in drawings.
