Biography

The core of my practice has been my responses to my life-long fascination with the organic, marine and human worlds and their relationship and influence on design and manufacture, particularly in the spheres of the maritime, aviation and the automobile.  I do not see my work as abstract, but rather an abstraction of my subject matter.

The impetus for initiating my sculpture is often very intuitive.  However, the process for creating my sculptures is reflective, process driven and very considered.  I am bound, to a large extent, by the rules of manufacture; bronze casting, in particular, requires a sequential 'non-negotiable' approach.  Ideas of multiples, reproduction and modes of production suffuse the work, reflecting my love of process and engineering.

My sculptural forms are essentially 'biomorphic' often 'hybridised' with industrial elements.

I live & work in Cornwall.
