Biography
Christine specialises in traditional figurative and portrait sculpture, always working to capture a feeling of natural movement, life and spirit of each figure. She is an elected member of Royal Society of Sculptors, Society of Women Artists and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. A chosen artist for BT leading up to and including 2012 Olympics. she was commissioned for several action figures, including the action portrait figure of Paralympic basketball player Ade Adepitan in Jubilee Square, Woking and a 1.8m Female Sprinter for a site in Hong Kong. Since 2000 Christine has completed 22 Public Commissions and over 40 Private Commissions, together with a number of limited edition pieces. Since 2019 Christine has concentrated on commissions of well-known female figures, including the seated life-size statue of Suffragette Emily Wilding Davison for Epsom, the Life-size standing figure of Environmental Activist Greta Thunberg for Winchester University, 2.3 meters tall Composer and Writer Dame Ethel Smyth for Woking and, most recently, the 17thC Playwright, Poet and Spy Aphra Behn, which was unveiled in the centre of Canterbury by Queen Camilla in February 2025.
Although Christine primarily works with clay for casting in bronze, she has also been commissioned to work with laser-cut stainless steel, creating The People of Guildford, an installation of 36 figures for Guildford. Jutland Sailors for the Woodland Trust Commemorative Grove near Epsom and a 2.5metre tall figure of King John for Runnymede.
