Biography
Evelyn trained as a Printed Textiles designer at Winchester College of Art and The Royal College of Art. Initially she worked as a designer for a number of companies including Habitat, Esprit and Miroglio Tessile. She has received a South East Arts travel bursary to Mexico
Christopher Rutter trained as a sculptor and carver at Wimbledon College of Art and The City and Guilds of London Art School and did his M.A. in the School of Architecture at East London University. He has worked as an architectural carver on a number of buildings including Westminster Abbey and King’s College chapel, Cambridge.
He has received a Henry Moore Trust Award to work at Portland Sculpture Park, the McColl Arts Foundation Travel Award to Zimbabwe and craftsmanship awards for his stone carving work.
Together they have received 3 Arts Council awards and a Leonardo da Vinci Fellowship to Cyprus College of Art as well as a number of academic research grants.
They have taught extensively at Art colleges in the UK and abroad.
In collaboration they have created large-scale sculptures for locations including hospitals in Chichester, Hastings, and Swindon, Cass Sculpture Foundation, Cyprus College of Art and Great Yarmouth Council.
They use a variety of media including performance, poetry, artists books, print/collage, ceramics, etc. as a means of extending the possibilities of collaborative processes.
