Biography

My work reflects everyday experiences of three-dimensionality.  It highlights phenomena such as complex patterns of buildings, clouds and sunlight that shift as the viewer or the forms move around in space.  By filtering some of these experiences into abstract form, aspects such as depth, distance and scale can be made tangible.

Each piece of work begins with the materials.  I use commonly available materials - thread, card, pencil, paint - to create form,  building it up in incremental stages using emergent processes and continually responding to the space.  Both process and form are evolving expressions of three dimensionality.

Current work involves 3D linear sculptures which reveal spatial depth and patterns as viewers move around them, and 2D drawings in which my movement generates form.

My background is 3d design.  I developed my installation practice at the Florence Trust and have worked on public art commissions, exhibitions and ran an arts-based, inter-disciplinary discussion programme.
