Biography
Alice Dudgeon’s work is characterised by lightweight, intricate, wooden structures.
Working with a multitude of parts she selects labour-intensive, repetitive processes that celebrate the irregularity of the natural material and evidence the hand.
She recently presented a new body of steam-bent, carved, and ebonised walnut sculptures, translated from preliminary ink drawings, evoking the shapes and patterns observed on her daily walk to the studio.
Recent exhibitions include: “Line Drawings”, Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop (2022), “Alice Dudgeon, Selected Works” (2022) Open Eye Gallery, “Winnowing in the Wind” (2022) Upright Gallery, and “Artful Craft” (2022) MAKE Southwest. She was a recent recipient of the Graduate Studio Award at Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop.
