Description

Join Alice Cunningham MRSS for an artist in conversation event on Wednesday 13 May at 6.30pm via Zoom.

Alice will be in conversation, as part of the Sculpture Terrace series, with Isabel de Vasconcellos independent curator and writer.

Alice has a diverse practice working with a breadth of mediums and is most commonly known for her sculptural carvings and work in social engagement. Alice is equally passionate about concept and materiality in her work. She has exhibited widely throughout the UK and internationally. Alice's 'Reach' is currently on display on the sculpture terrace at Dora House.

In 2022, the Royal West of England Academy commissioned Alice to make a new work for their landmark exhibition Earth: Digging Deep in British Art at the Royal West of England Academy. This resulting hand carved form, 'Reach' responds to the pressure we and our environment face due to rapid climate change and is currently on the sculpture terrace at Dora House.

Isabel de Vasconcellos is an independent curator and cultural producer, with extensive experience collaborating with artists and visual arts organisations to realise world-class public commissions and exhibitions. She writes on contemporary art, photography and design, and is the author of Fourth Plinth: How London Created the Smallest Sculpture Park in the World.
