In 2022, the Royal Society of Sculptors embarked on an extensive programme of works to restore its historic headquarters, Dora House. The situation was critical and we raised funds from a wide range of generous friends and supporters to save our beautiful home.
Working from the top down, specialist craftspeople were employed to make the building structurally safe, sound and dry, whilst restoring the façade to its original glory.
The scaffolding was removed in November 2022, revealing the beauty of the restored Dora House. Every aspect has been carefully considered, from the chimney to the ornate balconies, front door and stone work. Interior works are now being undertaken.
We are looking forward to welcoming visitors to Dora House in February 2023 with the opening of the First Plinth exhibition with artist Polly Morgan.
In the meantime, here's a snapshot of different aspects of the restoration work.
