Our Sculptors Exhibitions
Susan new exhibition brings together a range of new works, exploring notions of power, wealth and control while also retaining her continuing interests in ecology, domesticity and justice.
Appropriated material cultural items such as paper money and globes, as well as conceptual designs such as maps, are used to locate her interest in materials that surround, exert control over, and influence us.
Found blankets host stitched maps of London and New York, and a figure dressed in currency from the Weimar Republic includes motifs imbued with power in the form of basic goods – a blanket and a dress – and a currency still recognised as a powerful reminder of economies running out of control. Susan’s visual language blends appropriated manufactured objects with forms of personal tactile making, which asks us to consider our individuality and our personal relationships with the complex economies that surround us – what, if any, influence do we have?
This solo exhibition complements a range of important group exhibitions in which Susan currently has work included, including Postcolonial? at the House of European History in Brussels, Belgium (until 14th March 2027) and Cassinin's Map of France. An encyclopaedia of the territory at the Musée des Archives nationales, Paris, France (until 1st February 2027). She also has artwork featured in Collateral Drawing: A Living Archive at APT Gallery, Deptford, London (22 October – 1 November 2026) and Small.
