The DNA of Organic Machinery

News from THE DnA FACTORY MRSS [aka Dallas & Angel]. We’re delighted to have a series of sketches for future sculptures on show at Chelsea Arts Club as part of the current season of exhibitions.

These rapid-fire drawings feature quick, decisive marks, celebrating form and pattern, building blocks, mutations, DNA manipulations, simple rolling forms, statics suggesting motion, perambulation. Firm and fleshy with warning sign pigmentation, balancing acts and residual genetic contracts.

The choice of six monochrome copies force the eye to regulate form. These mutate into the more suggestive, cohesive elements of Organic Machinery, frozen in a pose, at once familiar and totally alien, exploding with colour and dynamics.

All 15 works explore ideas for future 3D works, imagining these creations in staccato or sinuous motion, organic cogs slipping over oiled surfaces, somewhere between sculpture and costume in a cartoon world.
