GIVE AND TAKE

Give and Take brings together a group of mosaic works and small paintings. They are the result of my ongoing research into the patterns and dilemmas of acquisition now and in the past - from plastics and data to objects of desire and plant collecting.

The mosaic sculptures, suitable for outdoors, are made with everyday objects including bowls, balls and bottles, plumbing accessories and discarded building materials gathered beneath a metaphorical ‘skin’ of coloured glass tiles. These familiar forms resonate beyond the gallery, echoing surveillance cameras on the streets as well as objects and plants in homes across the capital.

The paintings are shown alongside the sculptures, playfully exploring related forms, colours and ideas that inform the sculptural work.

The work is exhibited in the Reception Area of 5 Howick Place and curated by HS Projects.
