The Peeking Pair, 2024

Clare Burnett works in London and Berlin. She was President of the Royal Society of Sculptors 2015 – 2022. This year she has exhibited in the UK and Germany and her work has been acquired by the Museum Kunst&Gewerbe, Hamburg for permanent display. Last year she spent time in Cyprus developing a solo show for Art Seen, Nicosia, with works now part of the State Collection of Cyprus; and in Berlin collaborating with the German Museums’ Boxer War Research Group. Solo and group shows include galleries and museums in the UK, France, Germany, China, Mexico, Cyprus and Taiwan.

The Peeking Pair are couple of small spies looking back at the ubiquitous cameras in security systems, doorbells, phones and computers.  They are part of a larger project about how we balance privacy against convenience in relation to state and private surveillance and partners to a much larger piece, Secret Sentinels, which can be seen at 30 St Mary Axe as part of this year’s Sculpture in the City.

Clare says:

“I love the element of play in the 10 gram challenge - holding the wax in my hand for days while shapes emerge"
