Description
Assembly, a joint exhibition of Abraham Cruzvillegas and the artist duo Celeste (María Fernanda Camarena and Gabriel Rosas Alemán) is now open at Dora House, the home of the Royal Society of Sculptors until Saturday 30 November 2024.
For his presentation, Cruzvillegas will show a new wall-based work alongside his installation Autoritratto Pedonale con Sampietrino, first seen in the exhibition Mettere al mondo il mondo at Thomas Dane Gallery in Naples in 2022, reconfigured here for The Royal Society of Sculptors gallery space.
Celeste presents Melons Covered in Willow Leaves, an immersive installation, specifically created for the studio space at Dora House. A dynamic spiral moves throughout the composition, circling, enveloping, and dividing the space, to symbolise the non-linear passage of time and to mark Celeste’s four years of evolution into a duo. The installation also suggests a shelter and a space of containment.
Accompanying the exhibition we had a performance by Abraham Cruzvillegas on Saturday 5 October as well as artists talks on Sunday 6 October. Abraham Cruzvillegas was in conversation with Mark Godfrey and María Fernanda Camarena and Gabriel Rosas Alemán, aka Celeste, were in conversation with Isabel de Vasconcellos. Video recordings will soon be available on our Vimeo Channel vimeo.com/royalsocietyofsculptors
