Description

This exhibition of work by Jiro Takamatsu (1936-1998) and Keiji Uematsu (b.1947) brings post-war Japanese sculpture associated with the influential Mono-Ha (School of Things) to a wider audience.

The first pairing of these artists aims to provide an insight into the new ways of thinking about sculpture that developed in post-war Japan.

Uematsu, who is based in Germany and Japan, is showing historic works for his first institutional exhibition in the UK.

The two artists have been selected by the Tokyo-based art historian Yumiko Chiba, who is curating the exhibition.

Official event of the Japan-UK Season of Culture.

With thanks to the Simon Lee Gallery and Stephen Friedman Gallery.
