Our Sculptors

Stathis Dimitriadis MRSS

My work lives in the area between handcrafted materiality and conceptual imagery. I use traditional processes such as wheel throwing and handbulding to produce ceramic elements, which I combine with readymades, found objects and text into assemblages.

My aim is to transform the object into a ‘convincing’ utopia, into a paradoxical event.

I trained as a Chemical Engineer and a potter and I attained an MA in Fine Arts at Sir John Cass Faculty of Art. I was a finalist at the Broomhill National Sculpture Prize 2016, the RBS FIRST@108 Public Art Award 2015 and exhibited in ceramic Biennials in Spain, Austria, Portugal, Germany and Romania.
