Biography
Shuster + Moseley is the conceptual art studio of Claudia Moseley (b. 1984) and Edward Shuster (b. 1986). The artists create light-mobiles, sculptural installation and immersive, meditative environments reflecting on the nature of consciousness and technology.
Working with optics, geometry, light and glass, underpinned by a spirit of collaboration, the artists have developed projects with world-renowned scientists working in neuroscience, cosmology and imaging technologies, as well as architects, engineers and technicians. Their work is equally informed by research in anthropology, cosmology, philosophy, the esoteric arts and the poetics of space. Each project is conceived as an alchemy of elements, bringing this cross-disciplinary approach into focus through immersive and site-specific works that create ambient and meditative experiences.
this year the artists presented ‘Do not be afraid of the brilliant lights’, a solo presentation in the upper gallery of Gallery Rosenfeld. Last year the artists presented (Plan of the Path of Light) In the House of the Hidden Places, a composition of four large-scale geometric glass sculptures (‘Glyphs’) next to the Great Pyramids of Giza, as part of the first ever exhibition of contemporary art on this World Heritage site. They also presented ‘The Shape of Light’, commissioned for D3 in Dubai, comprising a series of large- scale Antiprisms sited in the public realm; a Monolith at Artissima Art Fair; and created a virtual artwork that enables immersive interaction with a neural web, in collaboration with world-leading neuroscientists. In 2020 the artists began ongoing work for large-scale projects with architects Herzog de Meuron and Nikken Sekkei; and created Horizon of Day and Night, which was commissioned for the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Al Ula, UAE.
