Biography

Sarah has been making in ceramics for many years - however, her MA in Studio Ceramics completed in 2014 saw her branch out into a more sculptural approach. She still uses clay but also incorporates other materials in her sculptures both pre and post-firing. She's particularly interested in semi abstract form inspired by biology - human and otherwise - and enjoys the juxtaposition of found objects and fragments joined together in a make do and mend approach. She likes to keep a playful element to her work and sometimes incorporates sound, both analogue and digital (the latter bieing something she is currently working on).

Sarah has exhibited across the UK and is a selected member of RSS and Craft potters Association as well as Artcanorg and Find.Amaker. She has work in private collections in America, Europe and Japan. Notable exhibitions include being one of ten Sheffield makers selected to represent Sheffield at Herrick Gallery in London 2018,  exhibiting at the International Ceramic Arts Festival in Sasama, Japan, Royal Sculptors Summer Show 2021, Collect Open at Somerset House in 2023, Ceramic Art London and Fresh Air Sculpture in 2024.

Sarah is also an experienced teacher and workshop leader.
