Biography

Sarah Christie is an artist and educator. Her work encompasses sculpture, installation and participatory art, and is often ephemeral. Working predominately with clay, she investigates interactions between clay and the wider world as a means of understanding our sensory, entangled and shifting relationship to the material and living environment. Recent work has engaged with clay and water, for example a dry piece absorbing the water from the environment (Continuum, 2019). Not everything becomes a 'finished' piece of work, but instead contributes to a longer and unfolding process of discovery. Her current practice uses unfired clay, and recycles material from one work to eventually become part of another.

She frequently collaborates with other artistsĀ  working in a variety of mediums, and participates in critical conversations and discussions in the UK, and US though AB Projects.

She lectures at Central Saint Martins, and at Imperial College Medical school where she teaches visual and tactile observation skills.
