Biography

Rosalind attended Chelsea School of Art and Saint Martins School of Art and returned to Northern Ireland to set up her studio.

Her focus is working in response to place, and using art as an intervention, with a particular concentration on highlighting destruction, or preservation. This has led her to create large scale site specific work for regional environmental and nature preservation organisations.
She has also completed many Artist in Residence positions for various bodies and organisations including the Alaska State Government, the Red Quincho Network in Argentina and Rathlin Island, Ireland.

The majority of her work is temporary, in the form of installations and works using natural materials. These pieces will then be dismantled and re-used in future works, thus creating a lineage and root system throughout her practice, where materials from works made several years ago can still live on in new pieces. This echoes her influences based on historical human commodification and control of land and the depletion of its heritage.

As Artist in Residence on the peatlands of County Tyrone for 2 years for the UK Heritage Lottery and Lough Neagh Partnership, she delivered a series of site specific sculptures and installations on the peatlands. Recognising and using her work as an opportunity to bring people together, the work will always have a social aspect, and for this reason she was awarded 2nd place for The Social Art Award from The Institute for Art & Innovation, Berlin in 2021.
