Richard Thornton MRSS

I work predominantly as a site specific sculptor - designing, and making large scale sculptures for private, public and individual clients.  In constructing my work I use the patterns and symmetry of natural science, these forms create a balance between organic elegance and engineered integrity. Alongside my public work I produce work for gardens and smaller spaces, utilising the skills and techniques I practice in my public work to produce elegant but robust domestic sculptures - this is also where I develop my ideas and practice different ways of making to feed into my public work. All the sculptures are signed and individually numbered in the studio to maintain their authenticity, being hand made no two sculptures are ever the same.
