Biography
Lynn Dennison works across several disciplines, including installation, video projection and collage, to explore our relationship with the natural world; how we see and experience landscape and how important it is to people. She is particularly interested in the idea of a fear of the landscape, and the creation of an artwork that suggests the enormity of nature. Her work explores an anxiety about the surrounding landscape; not only the fear of our world becoming a hostile environment, but an anxiety that may be closer to home, the struggle to reconcile ourselves with the natural world around us. Her videos and installations celebrate the beauty of the natural world whilst acknowledging the interaction of man in the environment, often through the use of the built environment in video installations, where she works with the idea of layering images in the projection of a film or video onto an architectural space, as an installation. Her single and multiple screen video installations are often based in the documentary of place and the human interaction there. Lynn Dennisons' work creates a situation where culture and nature converge, and it is this interface between the natural world and the human interaction with it which occupies her.
