Biography

My work often begins in response to major issues and events, in particular politics, religion and commerce: it is not restrained by these starting points and while maintaining the intensity of its origins is free to evolve independently. I often work with found objects which can also provide starting points or present themselves as the work develops, these are chosen for a particular ‘presence’ association or familiarity. I cast my work in alumina cement, resin or bronze, I have a small foundry at my studio. The work is assembled to create rhythms and interactions; juxtaposition and metaphor explore connections and mood.

Exhibitions include ‘Sculpture: a Spectator Sport’ curated by Ann Elliot, the Toyamura International Sculpture Biennale, one man shows include the Barbican Centre and the north aisle of Winchester Cathedral. I studied at Sheffield Hallam University and the Royal College of Art.and recently completed a Fellowship working in the foundry at Chelsea College of Art UAL.. Elected RWA in 2014.
