Biography

I was born in 1940 into a family of creative people, my father a patternmaker, modelmaker and sculptor, my mother an embroideress and my sister a jeweller. I studied Fine Art at Newcastle University and Chelsea School of Art and from 1971 until 1990 I was Head of Sculpture at Norwich School of Art. Since retiring from education in 1990 I have pursued my career as a sculptor. I was appointed President of the RBS in 1998 and continued in post until 2004. During my Presidency, we revised the Articles of Association, changed the name of the Society, increased the membership from 200 to 500 and repaired the building. I currently live and work in Norwich and am Trustee of the charity Sculpture for Norwich and two other arts based charites. I continue to push my work into fresh territories and show it as regularly as I can.
