Biography

My artwork includes architectural commissions, public artworks, landscape and garden sculptures as well as temporary installations. I make permanent and temporary sculptural installations for parks, schools, festivals and during residencies. My core studio practice informs my approach to a wide range of projects.

I use a variety of materials including metal, wood, plastics and concrete. My work is largely process driven, often involving stacking and joining repeated elements to generate patterns of growth and change. Units are cast, cut out or assembled from found and reclaimed objects. These iterative assemblages can be fixed or continue on as variants like kits that can adapt to different locations.

Each piece is approached with a playful intent and develops through a largely intuitive response. I am fascinated by the endless possibilities of complex forms that emerge through repetition of simple processes. The boundaries defined by specific spaces or time limits are often an integral part of my how I form my output.

I aim to create artworks that bring joy and humour to public and private spaces. Through workshops I share the positive energy of creativity and collaborative making. This approach compliments a growing awareness of the era of ecological collapse we live in and informs my choice of materials and role as an artist. I believe sculpture has always been an important collaborative medium for marking place and time and is a means to bring people together.

My recent moved from London to Devon presents an opportunity to broaden my influences and to expand my work in new locations. I look forward to engaging with opportunities for new collaborations, commissions and exhibitions.
