Biography

Born in 1946, in Middlesbrough, William gained a Dip.AD in sculpture at Maidstone College of Art in 1969. In 1997, after a period of art and industrial projects, he started sculpting full time in Hove. His work has been shown regularly at Brighton Open Houses, Surrey Sculpture Society,  Broomhill Sculpture Park and Pride of the Valley Sculpture Park, as well as Worthing Art Gallery, Sothebys, Burghley House and The Albermarle Gallery, London.

While the theme of his figurative work expresses ideas concerned with the human condition, both in terms of the individual and of the relationships occuring in multipal figure groups, it is the relationship of forms and space which excite and inspire his work. His sculptures are usually modelled in clay or plaster and cast, as limited editions, in bronze or a resin-bronze composit.
