Striving to comprehend the body’s living substance, Elinor’s research is driven by the desire to capture the intangibility of the sensitive human experience.
The sensual is a core principle she works towards. Perceiving a shift towards the dematerialisation of the Self, in a science and tech-driven West, she explores the significance of embodiment, our warm and fleshy incarnation of being. When our porous and leaking bodies don't stand in compliance with sleek and polished technological machinery.
In reaction to the sometimes uncanny and often disturbing desires for “innovative” bodies - she reacts and places her work: dirty, fleshy, emotional, fluid, dripping, watery bodies. The boundaries dissolve.
Elinor explores the corporeal, weaving together both physical and thinking substances, existing in an interconnected environment. The “inner” pouring in the “outer” and vice versa, a desire to convey movement. Using glass, clay or found objects, organic matters often infiltrate her objects, like saliva, human breast milk or bones. We are alive, we are dirty!
