Our Sculptors Exhibitions
THIS EXHIBITION HAS BEEN POSTPONED - POSSIBLY UNTIL THE AUTUMN.
Sculptor Hew Locke has always been fascinated by how Power is visually projected – through the design of bank notes, public statues, costume or heraldry. Born in Edinburgh, he spent his formative years in Guyana, arriving in time for Independence, and witnessing first-hand the creation of a brand new cultural identity for a new nation.
In this exhibition he focusses on how power is expressed through portraiture, presenting images of those who have power, and those seeking power.
Hew Locke is most celebrated for using images of ships, heroes, company share certificates and The Queen. In this show we will be unveiling a major new equestrian series, especially commissioned by The Lowry.
