Our Sculptors Exhibitions
A solo exhibition of new works in earth, soil and adobe processes.
Tokaido Tenmaken Museum in Tsuchiyama, Japan is located on the ancient route linking Kyoto to Tokyo and is still undertaken by walkers to this day.
The works explore Amanda's recent explorations into Adobe soil structures developed from her research trip to New Mexico in 2023 - a process also used in Japan's historic buildings.
The exhibition examines the notion of travel and pathways, both practical and spiritual.
The exhibition is dedicated to the memory of Amanda's mother Peternel Chambers who passed away in May 2024 - a native of the Netherlands who settled in the U.K.
All works from the exhibition have been created using soil from farmland in Tsuchiyama belonging to the Mikazuki Family - the pieces, once documented, will be returned to the earth in a spirit of gratitude and thanks.
