As part of London Craft Week 2023 we were delighted to welcome to Dora House Hong Kong based Crafts on Peel, a charitable organization that aims to revive, reinterpret and perpetuate traditional craftsmanship by fostering collaborations between traditional craftsmen and contemporary artisans through apprenticeships and an exchange of techniques, with the aim of nurturing the younger generations to incorporate traditional skills into innovative contemporary designs.
Craft on Peel presented 'Hearts & Hands: Crafts of Hong Kong' an exhibition celebrating the skills and creativity of Hong Kong’s artisans and a reminder of the importance of craftsmanship in preserving the city’s culture and heritage. Crafts on Peel hopes that it will inspire visitors to revive, reinterpret and perpetuate traditional crafts in their own lives, and to play a part in keeping alive Hong Kong’s rich culture of craftsmanship.
'Hearts & Hands: Crafts of Hong Kong' featured twelve collaborative works by traditional craftsmen and contemporary artisans, and two in-person craft workshops hosted by contemporary artisans Inkgo Lam and Ken Chow respectively.
Free 30-minute long guided tours were also offered daily as part of the dedicated public programme. Click here for more information https://www.londoncraftweek.com/events/hearts-and-hands-crafts-of-hong-kong/
