Our Sculptors Exhibitions
Peace takes time and effort, it requires skill and experience, crafting, making.
After the devastation of conflict and loss, peace is a constant process of acceptance and healing, of making a future. It requires moulding and remodelling, sculpting.
Among the trees of the Arboretum, the monumental sculptures and the inscribed plaques, peace is made a thousand times over. People from around the globe come to reconcile themselves with their loss and their past, and with each other. It is a place of craftsmanship as people create their own piece of reconciliation.
During the centenary year of the Armistice, fours artists have been observing how visitors to the Arboretum reconcile themselves with past conflicts. Each artist has created a piece of artwork inspired by the Arboretum and the deeply personal ways that people try to make peace.
The exhibition includes work by Jacky Oliver, Catherine Cartwright, Lizzie Hughes and Christopher Taylor
